Renton, Dunbartonshire born centre half Jack Galbraith began his football career playing for Vale of Leven in 1919 and Shawfield in 1920 before signing for Second Division Clapton Orient in 1921, making his Football League debut that September at Bury. In ten seasons with Orient he scored 10 goals in 296 appearances suffering relegation with them to Division Three (South) in 1929.

Cardiff City signed Galbraith in February 1931 but he couldn’t prevent them from suffering the same fate at the end of the season although he stayed a further four seasons at Cardiff, scoring twice in 152 appearances for The Bluebirds, before becoming manager of non league Milford United in 1935, before later returning to Clapton Orient as a coach. He also had two spells as manager of Racing Club Lens in France between 1936 and 1938.
