Description
Motherwell, Lanarkshire born right half Bob Fraser began his football career with Law Scotia Juniors signing for Scottish League Albion Rovers in June 1927. After four years at Cliftonhill he was signed by Aberdeen in April 1931 for £950, and was described as “one of the cleverest wing halves who has not been given an international cap”. His performances were however noticed and he went on the Scottish FA’s 1934 tour to the USA and Canada, becoming club captain of Aberdeen the same year.
In 1937 he led Aberdeen to their first Scottish Cup Final where they were beaten 2-1 by Celtic at Hampden Park in front of more than 147,000 spectators. In April a year later he was released by Aberdeen after 4 goals in 215 appearances for The Dons and he emigrated to South Africa.
