Cumbrian born, right half Pat Fitzsimmons began his senior football career with Preston North End but failed to make their first eleven, joining Scottish League club Queen of the South in 1938. He played for Queen’s both sides of the Second World War and was later granted a testimonial, playing for them until 1949, scoring 6 goals in 84 appearances in post war football for Queen’s. He also coached Queen’s youth teams.
