Newburn, Tyne & Wear born wing half Andrew Findlay had been playing local football before the First World War but signed for Tottenham Hotspur after the conflict, however he didn’t appear for their first eleven.

He joined Wigan Borough in 1922 making his Football League debut at Ashington that September, playing 25 times that season, scoring in two of Wigan’s FA Cup ties. His second season at Wigan saw him struggle to get into their team and after 7 matches in autumn he only played once more, scoring in a win over Rotherham County in April 1924.

He moved to Dundee in 1925 and had a spell at Portsmouth, without playing for their first team, in the 1926-27 season before his retirement from the professional game.
