Description

St Asaph, Flintshire born left half Spencer Evans began his football career with Rhyl Athletic, from where he made his first foray into the Football League with Third Division (North) club Chester in their inaugural League season, making his Football League debut, and only appearance for The Seals, in a win over Stockport County in March 1932. After a spell with Cheshire County League club Altrincham, he was signed by Third Division (North) club Port Vale in the 1936 close season, and was a regular in The Valiants’ first team for the next two seasons.

He scored his only senior career goal in a Third Division Cup Second Round win over Stockport County in February 1937 and after 76 appearances for Port Vale he again dropped into non league football with Northwich Victoria in the summer of 1938. His career was then effectively ended by the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939.
