Tibshelf, Derbyshire born inside forward Doug Egan joined First Division Derby County in 1937 and spent 1937-38 with The Rams without breaking into their first eleven. He transferred to Aldershot in the summer of 1938 and made his Football League debut at Mansfield Town in March 1939, playing 10 matches in the final stretch of the season which saw Aldershot finish 10th in the Third Division (South). The advent of the Second World War put an end to his professional career.
