Wednesbury born centre half Charlie Deacey joined Second Division West Bromwich Albion from local Wednesbury football, making his debut for Albion in November 1910 but only playing twice in a season that would see them promoted as Champions. He was always a fringe player at The Hawthorns, making only 19 appearances and scoring once by the time he had joined Hull City in the summer of 1914. He played for Hull both sides of World War One but made the short journey to join Grimsby Town in December 1920 after 5 goals in 81 games for them. At grimsby he scored 4 goals in 98 games over the next 2 and a half seasons, before moving to non league Pontypridd in 1923.
