Trehaford, Rhondda Valley born wing half (he played both sides) Thomas Clark began his football career with Trehaford Welfare and played for Abercynon in 1930, Bargoed in 1931 and Aberaman Athletic in 1932 before being signed by First Division Bolton Wanderers in August 1933, making his Football League debut against Portsmouth in January 1936. He had a run in the first team from September to December 1936 but lost his place and transferred to Second Division Nottingham Forest in November 1938 after 23 appearances for The Trotters. He was then an ever present for Forest making 32 appearances through to September 1939, when peacetime football was abandoned due to the outbreak of the Second World War, which effectively ended his career.
