Highworth, Wiltshire born outside right Ted Clack began his senior football career at Southern League Pontypridd in 1920, from where he was signed by First Division club Sunderland, making his Football League debut at Cardiff City in December 1921. He appeared eight times for the first eleven through to March 1922, but made only one further appearance the next season for The Wearsiders at Preston North End in March 1923 before joining Second Division club Bristol City in the 1923 close season. However he failed to make an impression at Ashton Gate making only two appearances for The Robins, and when they were relegated in 1924, he was released, joining non league Nuneaton Town. He went on to play for Hinckley United in 1925 and Holywell Amateurs in 1926 before his retirement from the game.
