Tottenham born goalkeeper George Burdett was with the Royal Fusiliers before joining Arsenal in August 1910, as understudy to Edwin Bateup, making his Football League debut against Everton in March 1911, thereafter playing 10 times in his debut campaign, keeping six clean sheets. George Burdett enjoyed almost half a season as Woolwich Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper in 1911-12 but lost his place to Sidney Crawford in January 1912. After 28 appearances he left the club in 1912 and joined the Royal Artillery.
