Kidsgrove born full back Percy Brooke signed professional for local club Stoke City in November 1919 and made his debut at Coventry City in the Second Division on Christmas Day 1919. However opportunities were limited and in 2 seasons he only appeared 12 times, before moving to Aberdare Athletic in July 1921. He spent 5 seasons in Wales and clocked up 131 appearances but lost his place in August 1925, and although he finished the season in Aberdare’s goal for the last 6 matches of 1925-26, in August 1926 he signed for Swindon Town. However only 3 matches for Swindon the next season saw him move to Accrington Stanley in July 1927, but only 2 games for Stanley followed, before he went non league with Whitchurch and Bromsgrove Rovers after 148 senior career games.
