Wolverhampton born left half George Bradburn had joined local club Walsall in 1916 before they joined the Football League. In May 1919 he was signed by Southern League Southampton, for whom he had guested in wartime football, and he made 30 appearances during 1919-20 when preferred to Alec Campbell. The following season he made his Football League debut against Portsmouth in September 1920. However chances in the first eleven proved limited and after only 7 further games he returned to Walsall in May 1922. At Walsall he started 1922-23 in the first team, however he was dropped in November after 12 games and made no further appearances for their first team.
