Description
Manchester born outside left Dickie Bourne signed for First Division Sheffield United in 1900 from Roundel, making his Football League debut against Newcastle United that December. A fringe player at Bramall Lane, he wasn’t selected for either the 1901 or 1902 FA Cup Finals and joined Barnsley in the 1902 close season after a single goal in 8 appearances for The Blades. His single season at Oakwell returned a solo strike in 25 appearances before he was transferred to Preston North End in April 1903.
At Deepdale he won the Second Division Championship in 1903-04 scoring 3 goals in 36 appearances during the campaign. In 1905 he transferred to Clapton Orient after 7 goals in 70 appearances but in February 1907, having impressed in a match for Orient against West Bromwich Albion, he was transferred to Albion, where he scored once in 9 appearances before joining Birmingham League club Walsall in the summer of 1908 before his eventual retirement.
