Lowestoft, Suffolk born left half Fred Bemment began his football career Lowestoft IOGT and played for Kirkley in 1904 before joining Southern League Norwich City in 1905. After two seasons at The Nest he joined First Division Notts County in the 1907 close season, making his Football League debut at Sheffield Wednesday the same September. However after only 9 matches for The Magpies he transferred to Chesterfield Town in March 1908, and he scored once, in a 2-0 win over Leeds City in October 1908, in 30 appearances for The Spireites before joining non league Hardwick Colliery in the 1909 close season.
