Description

Seaham Harbour, County Durham born goalkeeper Jack Bell played for Ryhope Colliery and Seaham Colliery before joining Sunderland in November 1924 making his First Division debut against Leeds United in March 1927 being understudy to Albert McInroy and playing 41 games over five seasons at Roker Park. He moved to Walsall in November 1930 but only appeared twice for The Saddlers before moving to Accrington Stanley in July 1931, playing 31 times during 1931-32. A move to Bradford Park Avenue followed in March 1932, and Bell made 73 appearances for Avenue through to March 1936 before retiring from professional football.

NB in the image he is shown with Sunderland team mates Harry Shaw, Tommy Urwin and Albert Wood.
