Burton-on-Trent born winger Harry Beddow played for Thornley Star, Sydney Star and Trent Rovers before joining hometown Second Division club Burton United in July 1904 making his debut at Liverpool that September. He had scored twice in 22 appearances when Manchester United signed him in February 1905 where his 14 goals in 1905-06 helped United to runners-up spot in the Second Division and promotion, scoring back to back hat-tricks against Grimsby Town and Staple Hill in an FA Cup tie. In July 1907 he signed for Burnley after 15 goals in 34 United appearances, and he struggled for game time at Burnley and over the next 2 years he scored 7 goals in 16 games, before joining non league Tutbury Town in 1910, playing for Shobnall Villa in 1911.
