Description

Sheffield born right back Harold Armitage started his football career playing for Sheffield teams Hope & Anchor in 1918 and Hathersage in 1919, with whom he won the Sheffield Amateur League during the 1919-20 season, before joining newly relegated Second Division club Sheffield Wednesday in June 1920, making his Football League debut against Bristol City in May 1921. In two seasons at Hillsborough he made just 3 League appearances, and he moved on to Bristol Rovers in May 1922.

A regular for four seasons in The Pirates’ first eleven, he made 129 appearances for Bristol Rovers before joining Lincoln City in August 1927. But he only stayed a single season at Sincil Bank, making 12 appearances, before a move to Midland League Scarborough in the 1927 close season, his last club in the professional game.
