Description

Glasgow born goalkeeper Thomas Allan began his football career with Wellwood Star and played for Rutherglen Glencairn, from where he joined Heart of Midlothian in 1906, making his Scottish League debut against Aberdeen in August 1906 and making 180 appearances for The Jambos across two spells with the club. In 1908 he signed for Sunderland but found opportunities limited with Leigh Roose the number one glovesman, but he made his debut in an FA Cup tie at Bradford City in February 1909 and accumulated 26 appearances over three seasons before returning to Scotland to re-join Hearts in 1911. He subsequently moved to Motherwell in 1914, replacing Colin Hampton between the sticks and 39 appearances over two seasons before his retirement in 1916.
