Mellor, Lancashire born winger Fred Collinson joined Everton in 1894 but failed to make a first team appearance for The Toffees. He joined Bury in August 1895 making his Football League debut against Small Heath that October scoring in a 4-5 home defeat in a match which would prove his only appearance for The Shakers. He joined non league Chorley in 1896 before moving to Blackburn Rovers in August 1898, but he moved to Second Division Darwen in February 1899 without having made a first team appearance at Ewood Park. He played 9 times for Darwen during the remainder of the 1898-99 season before retiring from professional football.
